Prairie View A&M's Renoldo Revuelta recovered a fumble with 18 seconds to play to preserve Prairie View A&M's 16-14 win at Southern in a Western Division showdown live on ESPNU.

Played in front of 6,463 fans , who braved pregame weather that seemed like hurricane winds and rain that dumped so much water on the field that the endzones were underwater. But the rain eventually ceased and the ESPNU TV audience was treated to an entertaining game, despite the Jags loss.

The Jaguars drove to the PV 23-yard line with less than a minute to play. Juamorris Stewart to the six-yard line but was stripped of the ball by Chris Adingupu to preserve the Panthers' first win at Southern since 1992.

The loss delivered a serious blow to SU's chances of reaching the SWAC Championship game in Birmingham, AL. Now with two conference losses with foru game yet to play, the Jags need to win out, and then hope that teams above them lose some games.

Prairie View A&M (5-1, 4-0) scored on its first offensive play as Donald Babers caught a screen pass on the far sideline, weaved through defenders and raced 49 yards for a touchdown to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead with 12:15 to play in the first quarter.

Southern (4-3, 1-2) got on the board late in the second quarter on a 10-play, 68-yard drive. QB Bryant Lee's one-yard sneak tied the score at 7-7 with 3:45 to play in the first half.

A 45-yard kickoff return by Joe Fontenot set up Prairie View A&M at midfield. A 26-yard pass from Black to Gabe Osaze-Ediae led to a 29-yard field goal by Brady Faggard gave the Panthers a 10-7 lead just before halftime.

Southern regained the lead its first possession of the third quarter on 10-play, 98-yard drive. Juamorris Stewart caught a pass in the right flat and after turning up field, eventually wove his way across the field to the far side en route to a electrifying 25-yard TD pass that gave the Jaguars a 14-10 lead with 4:30 to play in the third quarter.

Prairie View A&M regained the lead in the fourth quarter on a 10-play, 80-yard drive, elapsing more than five minutes off the clock. Babers' second touchdown of the night, this time on a three-yard run, gave the Panthers a 16-14 lead with 8:05 to play as Faggard's PAT hit the upright

After a defensive stop, Southern regained possession with 2:59 to play at its own 41. Southern drove to the PV 23 with less than a minute to play the game-deciding play.

Offensively for the Jags, Juamorris Stewart led the Jags with a season high 12 catches for 162 yards and one touchdown. Warren Matthews had four catches for 62 yards.

Defensively, Casey Narcisse had seven tackles (2 solo), as did Jordan Miller (2 solo) go go along with his one sacks and two tackles for loss. Linebackers Marcus Clark and Corey Ray each had seven tackles, with Clark also having ½ sack and one QB Hurry. Ray also had ½ sack. Defensive back Jason House had four tackles and his NCAA FCS and SWAC leading sixth interception.

Southern will travel to Pine Bluff, AR next weekend to take on the Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Gametime is set for 2:30 pm.
