Final Stats
Nicholls State's Fred Hunter scored 19 points to lead
NSU (3-3) to a 75-56 win over Southern University (0-6) on Saturday in Thibodaux.
The Colonels (3-3), who entered the game tied with Syracuse
for 20th nationally in field-goal shooting at 50 percent (118 of 236 shots),
kept up the pace by shooting 49.1 percent (27 of 55).
The Jaguars (0-6) made 44.4 percent of their shots (20 of 45)
for the game, but couldn't make up a 36-27 halftime deficit.
Desmond Griffin led the Jaguars with 17 points and Chris Davis
added 15 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
Nicholls State scored 33 points off of 19 Southern turnovers
in the game. SU's bench was also outscored 19-8.
Anatoly Bose added 17 points for Nicholls State, Kyle Ford
scored 14 and Ryan Bathie had 10 points and seven rebounds.
These two teams will play again this Saturday night, at 7:00
p.m. in the F.G. Clark Activity Center on the Southern campus.
