Jon Tavel enters his first season on the Bluff with Southern Men’s Basketball.

He will serve as an assistant coach on the Jaguar’s staff. His primary responsibilities include video/analytics, team travel, recruiting and on-court instruction.

Tavel comes to Southern after a six-year stint at Tulane, finishing his last two seasons as a Graduate Assistant.

During his time at Tulane, the Green Wave reached their highest conference win total in over 20 years.

A native of Long Island, New York, he earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane in May of 2021 with a degree in Business Management and a Master of Science in Sports Studies in May of 2023.
