Coach Ware is entering her fifth year at Southern University serving as Assistant Track and Field Coach.
In 2024 Coach Ware oversaw the jumpers and they succeeded on the runway. During the SWAC Indoor Championship three lady triple jumpers Azariah Foster, Yahria Bass, and Sahnya Lathon finished respectfully 2nd, 4th and 5th all with new personal records. Peyton Funderburk finished 5th with a jump of 18’5”. Camille Lewis leaped a new PR in the women’s HJ 5’7” and was the Outdoor SWAC Runner-Up. Reginald King jumped a huge PR of 48’5”.25 and finished 7th in a tough field. Roman Smith was SWAC Runner-Up with a new PR of 7’0”. Outdoor season Reginald King jumped a new PR 50’4” and Roman Smith jumped a new PR of 7’1” and was ranked top 15 in the NCAA East Region. Three jumpers, King, Kevon Hamilton, and Smith qualified for the NCAA First Round and finished 15th, 46th, and 39th in the country.
During the 2023 season Kevon Hamilton was Indoor SWAC runner up in the Men’s Triple Jump jumping 49’10” and outdoor SWAC Champion jumping 50’3”. He qualified for the NCAA First Rounds and finished 22nd in the country.
During the 2022 season, the jumpers and long sprinters competed throughout the season. Newcomer Kason Jones ran a personal record in both the 200 and 400 48.61 and 21.95 and Jordan Thompson ran his personal record of 49.86 during their indoor season. The men’s and women’s 1600m relays both ran personal records at indoor SWAC 3:16.84 and 3:48.78 placing second and fifth. On the jumper’s side the men scored eight points as Ja’Carrius Demmeritte placed respectfully seventh and eighth in the long jump and triple jump. Outdoor season Kevon Hamilton jumped over 15 meters (49’7”) placing fifth in very talented group of jumpers.
During the 2021 season, horizontal, vertical, and long sprinters jumped and ran personal best throughout the season. Freshmen Destiny Mitchell and Jordan Landry finished second & third in the high jump at indoor conference. Jada Childers, who was week one SWAC Indoor Performer of the week, ran a personal best and made the finals in the women’s 400m at Indoor SWAC Championship. Each athlete carried the same fight to the outdoor season where every long sprinter ran a personal record every week, leading into the outdoor championship. Both horizontal and vertical jumpers jumped each meet with highlights of the year, Mitchell who was the silver medalist in the high jump at outdoor conference. Demmerritte jumping his personal best in the long jump and triple jump throughout the outdoor season. He was ranked in the top 20 in the east region jumping 24’7”. Karanay Alexander, competed in the outdoor season in the Heptathlon with a score of 3,957 placing third.
During the indoor 2020 season, even though the season was cut short, the horizontal and vertical jumps made big marks. She coached Aniyah Stiles to a third-place finish in the high jump and true freshman Anndrela Woods, finished sixth with an indoor personal best in the long jump and Tessa Toney and Alexander placed in the top eight of the women’s pentathlon.
In the 2019 season, Ware coached the horizontal & vertical jumpers at Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She coached Cameron Gist to a state championship, school record in the triple jump, and 4th place finish in the long jump. Cameron was ranked one of the top triple jumpers in the country.
Ware is very familiar with the Southwestern Athletic Conference where she coached the jumpers & multi-athletes at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff 2013-2017. During her tenure at Pine Bluff, she coached Sydnee Worlds, who was 2015 indoor SWAC bronze medalist in the indoor long jump and triple jump in 2015. Outdoor, Worlds was the gold medalist in long jump (19’11”) & triple jump (39’11”), fifth place (5’4”) in the high jump, sixth place heptathlon 3,996, & eighth place in the javelin. By herself, she scored 29 points for the team and was awarded high point in the field. She was also an NCAA West First Round Qualifier. She coached Crystal Christopher to a bronze finish at the 2015 outdoor conference and was an NCAA West First Round Qualifier. Briana Burke jumped over 20 feet & was the silver medalist at outdoor 2017 SWAC Championship & also was a 2017 NCAA First Round Qualifier. All the horizontal & vertical jumpers scored in the top 8 at the conference 2013-2017.
Before UAPB, Ware spent one season at Iowa Central Community College coaching the horizontal jumpers. Coaching conference champions, school record holders, NJCAA National Qualifiers, and NJCAA All-Americans. In 2013, the men & women teams were indoor runner-up and 2013 Outdoor Women’s National Champions.
In 2010 she received her first coaching position at Coffeyville Community College. There she coached over 20 All-Conference, NJCAA National Qualifiers, NJCAA All-Americans, & one national champion. She coached three student-athletes over 25ft in the long jump (Kadeem Douglas, J. Bowry, and Orlando Ezell) in one season. The long jump and triple jump school records were broken in 2011.
She is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, competed at Georgia Southern University under mentor Natalie Smith from 2008-2010 where she was All-Conference in the 100m, 400 hurdles, and relays. Before Georgia Southern, Ware ran for the junior college powerhouse, Rend Lake College in 2006-2007 where she was a two-time NJCAA All-American in the 200m and long jump. Ware also holds the school record in the 55m and top 3 in 60m, 200m, & long jump. She graduated with a Child Development degree coupled with Sociology and Education minors.
She has a Track & Field Certification through USTFCCCA.
