GRAMBLING, La. – Southern University completed a doubleheader sweep on the road Thursday, defeating Grambling State University by scores of 8–1 and 8–2 to continue its strong push in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Game 1 – Southern 8, Grambling 1
The Lady Jaguars (29-12, 15-5 SWAC) set the tone from the opening at-bat. Asia George drew a leadoff walk, stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch to give Southern an early 1–0 advantage. The offense broke through in the first inning when Ariel Burton delivered a two-RBI single after consecutive walks loaded the bases.

Southern extended the lead in the third as Abigail Mitchell doubled and Burton followed with an RBI single to make it 4–1.

Southern continued to apply pressure throughout the game with aggressive baserunning and timely hitting, adding runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Burton powered the offense with a 3-for-4 performance and five RBIs, while George's speed created constant disruption on the bases.

In the circle, Aaliyah Zabala was in control, striking out seven over six innings and allowing just one run on four hits. Emma Rogers closed out the final frame as Southern finished with 11 hits and four stolen bases in the victory.

Game 2 – Southern 8, Grambling 2
Southern carried that momentum into the second game and once again struck early. George tripled in the third inning and scored on a hit from Laila Clark. Moments later, Burton launched a two-run home run to extend the lead to 4–1.

Grambling (13-25, 4-15) managed single runs in the second and fourth innings, but Southern's pitching staff shut the door from there. The Lady Jaguars added insurance in the sixth when Mitchell tripled and scored on a wild pitch, and Prestaisha White doubled home a run later in the inning. RBI singles from Katiana Maldonado and Clark in the seventh helped put the game out of reach.

Hayley Hinds earned the win after allowing two runs across four innings. Jordynn Jennings followed with two perfect innings and two strikeouts, while Rogers handled the seventh to seal the victory. Despite Grambling collecting 10 hits, Southern's defense remained flawless and the pitching staff stranded runners throughout the contest.

Across the doubleheader, Burton led the way with four hits, seven RBIs and a home run, while George sparked the offense at the top of the order with her speed and extra-base power.

Southern's pitching staff combined to allow just three runs over 14 innings as the Lady Jaguars secured the sweep.
