BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University opens Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this week with a three-game road series at Prairie View A&M. The Lady Jaguars and Lady Panthers will begin the series Thursday, March 5, with a doubleheader at noon at Lady Panther Softball Stadium. Friday's series finale is scheduled for a noon first pitch.

Southern enters conference play riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping Dillard in a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday. The Lady Jaguars also secured victories over East Texas A&M and Memphis during the stretch.
 
Over the four-game run, Southern is batting .292 as a team with seven doubles, one triple and two home runs. The Lady Jaguars have also been aggressive on the basepaths, going a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts.
 
Laila Clark has paced the offense, going 8-for-12 with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs and five stolen bases. Asia George has raised her average nearly 100 points during the streak, batting 6-for-11 with three RBIs. Prestaisha White, Keira Miracle-Tilford and Ava Wallace have each added four hits.
 
In the circle, Jordynn Jennings and Aaliyah Zabala have anchored Southern's pitching staff. The duo has combined for 26.0 innings, allowing just 10 earned runs while striking out 18. Jennings earned wins over Memphis and Dillard, while Zabala tossed complete-game victories against East Texas A&M and Dillard.
 
Jennings and White were recognized with SWAC weekly honors following their performances against Memphis. Jennings earned her second Pitcher of the Week award after delivering 4.0 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and two runs while facing 14 batters. White went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the victory.
