Southern (17-11, 5-4 SWAC) enters the matchup fresh off a series victory over Arkansas–Pine Bluff. The Golden Lions claimed the opener, 3-2, before the Lady Jaguars responded with wins of 4-0 and 13-9 to secure the series.

Laila Clark led the charge at the plate, batting .600 with two doubles, while
Asia George went 6-for-13 with a double, triple, four RBIs, and four stolen bases. As a team, Southern hit .315 across the series, tallying five doubles, three triples, and 10 stolen bases.

In the circle,
Aaliyah Zabala delivered a dominant weekend, starting the first two games and appearing in the finale. She logged 14.0 innings with 15 strikeouts, allowing just three runs while holding opponents to a .263 batting average.
Jordynn Jennings earned the other win, tossing 4.2 innings in relief in game three.

On the season, Clark continues to pace the Lady Jaguars with a .459 batting average, adding seven doubles, seven home runs, and 35 RBIs. The sophomore ranks among the nation's leaders in several categories, including batting average, RBIs, and slugging percentage (.865), and is one of just a handful of players yet to be caught stealing. Her 15-game hitting streak is the second-longest active streak in the country and ranks fourth overall this season.

George has also been surging, raising her average by 50 points since the start of conference play. The senior outfielder is hitting .347 with five doubles, two triples, and two home runs, while remaining perfect on the basepaths.

Katiana Maldonado and
Abigail Mitchell round out a strong offensive unit, batting .333 and .329, respectively. Maldonado has recorded half of her hits during SWAC play, while Mitchell has totaled six doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 27 RBIs.

Zabala and Jennings have formed a reliable one-two punch in the circle, combining for 14 of Southern's 17 wins this season. Zabala holds a 2.82 ERA across 59.2 innings with 48 strikeouts, anchoring the Lady Jaguars' pitching staff heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
