BATON ROUGE, La. — The Southern University softball team heads to Arkansas–Pine Bluff this weekend for a three-game SWAC series beginning Friday, March 20, at the Tori Hunter Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.

Southern (15-10, 3-3 SWAC) enters the weekend riding a five-game winning streak, highlighted by a dominant doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Christian on Wednesday. The Lady Jaguars showcased their power at the plate, launching seven home runs across the two games.
 
Abigail Mitchell led the surge with three home runs, while Prestashia White added two. Asia George and Laila Clark each contributed one, with Clark delivering a walk-off homer in game two to seal the sweep.
 
As a team, Southern hit an impressive .400, collecting 22 hits on the day. Izabell Astran, White, Katiana Maldonado, Mitchell, Clark, George, and Ava Wallace all recorded multiple hits, fueling the offensive outburst.
 
In the circle, Hayley Hinds and Aaliyah Zabala earned wins for the Lady Jaguars. Hinds started game one, allowing just five hits and one walk over 4.0 innings of work. Chakirrious Parker got the nod in game two, tossing 5.1 innings before Zabala came on in relief to close it out with 1.2 innings and two strikeouts.
 
Clark continues to pace Southern offensively and was recently named SWAC Newcomer of the Week following her standout performance against Grambling. The sophomore hit .556 with six RBIs, a home run, and a game-winning hit in the series finale to complete the sweep. She is currently batting .438 on the season and has recorded a hit and an RBI in 12 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation.
