BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University softball erupted for seven home runs and delivered clutch late-inning hitting to complete a doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Christian on Wednesday at Lady Jaguar Field. The Lady Jaguars claimed a 12-7 win in game one before walking off with a 6-3 victory in game two.

Game 1: Southern 12, Louisiana Christian 7
Southern (15-10, 3-3 SWAC) used a dominant seven-run fourth inning to seize control of a high-scoring opener.

Trailing 3-1 in the fourth, the Lady Jaguars responded with one of their most explosive innings of the season.
Hayley Hinds drove in three runs with a bases-clearing groundout to tie the game before
Abigail Mitchell delivered the decisive swing, a grand slam to center field that pushed Southern in front 8-3.

Southern continued to build its lead in the fifth as
Prestaisha White and
Asia George launched back-to-back solo home runs. Mitchell added her second homer of the game in the sixth to cap the scoring.

Mitchell finished with five RBIs on two home runs, while George scored three times and drove in two runs. White added three hits and a home run in the victory.

In the circle, Hinds earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) over four innings.
Jordynn Jennings and
Emma Rogers combined in relief to secure the win.

Game 2: Southern 6, Louisiana Christian 3
Laila Clark delivered the biggest swing of the day, blasting a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Southern to a 6-3 win and complete the sweep. The homer extended Clark's nation-leading hitting and RBI streak to 12 games.

Southern struck first with runs in each of the opening two innings, including a solo home run from White. Louisiana Christian (12-13, 4-5 RRAC) answered with a two-run homer in the fourth and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth, capitalizing on defensive miscues.

The Lady Jaguars evened the score in the sixth on a solo home run from Mitchell — her third long ball of the day, setting the stage for Clark's late-game heroics.

Clark finished with four RBIs, while Mitchell and White each added solo home runs.
Â
Aaliyah Zabala earned the win in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
Chakirrious Parker started and allowed three runs (two earned) over 5.1 innings.
