Southern (13-10, 3-3 SWAC) enters the midweek matchup riding the momentum of a three-game sweep over Grambling this past weekend. The Lady Jaguars opened the series with a 10-0 run-rule victory in six innings, followed with a 7-1 win in game two, and capped the sweep with a 6-5 comeback victory in nine innings.

As a team, Southern hit .354 across the series, tallying six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 19 RBIs.

Laila Clark paced the offensive surge, going 5-for-9 with six RBIs and a home run. The sophomore delivered the game-winning hit in the series finale, driving in the final two runs. Clark is currently riding a 10-game hitting and RBI streak—believed to be the only active streak of its kind in the nation this season. During that stretch, she has raised her batting average from .286 to .431, ranking fourth in the SWAC. Her six home runs rank second in the conference, while her 28 RBIs sit fifth.

Katiana Maldonado also turned in a strong weekend at the plate, going 4-for-8 and boosting her batting average by nearly 100 points. The Houston native added two stolen bases and recorded 10 putouts defensively.

In the circle, Southern's pitching staff was dominant, combining for a 1.27 ERA over the three games. Aaliyah Zabala led the way with a 0.88 ERA across 8.0 innings, earning two wins. She tossed a complete-game shutout in the opener, allowing just five hits, and returned in the series finale to pitch the final two innings, surrendering only two hits to secure the victory. Zabala's 3.34 ERA ranks fifth in the SWAC, while her six wins are second-most in the conference.

Jaciee Massey, Abigail Mitchell, Asia George, and Ava Wallace each contributed three or more hits during the series. Massey went 3-for-8 with an RBI, while George finished 3-for-9 with a double and a triple. Wallace added three hits and two RBIs, and Mitchell delivered a standout performance, going 4-for-11 with three doubles, a home run, five RBIs, and four runs scored. Her three-run homer in game one sealed the run-rule victory for the Lady Jaguars.
