HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Southern University bowling team opened the Southwestern Athletic Conference Round-Up on Friday at Pin Palace Lanes with two victories.

Southern began the day against Alabama State but fell 954–806. Maria Molina Diaz led the Lady Jaguars with a 194, followed by
Darian Mobley's 176 and
Mikayla Stephens' 171.

The Lady Jaguars battled Florida A&M in the second match but came up short in another close contest, 814–791. Mobley paced Southern with a 181, while Molina Diaz followed closely at 178.

Southern rebounded in its third match of the day, earning an 849–785 victory over Texas Southern.
Angel Stein delivered the team-high score with a 189, while Molina Diaz added a 176 and Mobley chipped in a 171.

The Lady Jaguars continued their momentum with a dominant 846–580 win over Grambling. Molina Diaz once again led the way with a 188, as Mobley remained consistent with a 179. Stephens and
Alanna Jones each contributed scores of 171.

Southern closed out Friday with a tightly contested matchup against Alabama A&M, ultimately falling 854–831. Mobley posted the lone 200-plus game of the day for Southern with a 211, while Molina Diaz finished just shy at 199.

Through Friday's action, Molina Diaz sits third overall at the Round-Up with a total of 934 pins (187.0 average), while Mobley ranks fifth with 918 pins (183.6 average).

For the season, Molina Diaz ranks ninth in the conference with a 183.07 average (2,563 pins) across 14 games. Mobley climbed to 14th overall, posting a 178.21 average (3,386 pins) over 19 games.
