BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University softball opens the home portion of its 2026 schedule Thursday as the Memphis Tigers visit Lady Jaguar Field for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Southern returns home after a competitive 3-3 road swing through Texas. The Lady Jaguars earned wins over Arlington Baptist (3-1, 10-5) on Friday and closed the weekend with a victory over East Texas A&M.
 
In their three wins, Southern's offense caught fire, hitting .349 as a team with five doubles and three triples while holding opponents to a .246 batting average.
 
Katiana Maldonado paced the lineup against Arlington Baptist, going 4-for-7 with three runs scored and an RBI. Prestaisha White added three hits in the doubleheader, including two doubles in the nightcap.
 
Asia George found her rhythm during the four-game tournament at East Texas A&M, finishing 6-for-9 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Transfer Laila Clark continued to make an impact both offensively and defensively, tallying six hits over the weekend while throwing out five runners at first base from right field.
 
In the circle, Aaliyah Zabala delivered a dominant weekend performance. The California native appeared in five of six games, earning two wins and striking out 12. She opened the Arlington Baptist series with 3.2 innings of no-hit ball, allowing just one baserunner. Zabala followed with two perfect innings in the second game and capped the weekend with a complete-game effort, surrendering only two earned runs while striking out four.
 
Southern has also emerged as one of the nation's top teams in triples, ranking third nationally with 10. Ava Wallace sits fourth individually with three triples, while Keira Miracle-Tilford and Prestaisha White are tied for 25th with two apiece.
