ARLINGTON, Texas. — The Southern University softball team extended their winning streak to six games after beating Arlington Baptist in a double header on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Jaguars (6-4) won the first game 3-1 before beating the Patriots (5-5) 10-5 in game two.
Game One: Southern 3, Arlington Baptist 1
Southern struck early and relied on dominant relief pitching to secure the opener.

Katiana Maldonado set the tone in the first inning with a leadoff single and stolen base before coming around to score on
Ava Wallace's sacrifice fly. Moments later,
Prestaisha White delivered an RBI single to right field to plate
Keira Miracle-Tilford and give the Lady Jaguars a 2-0 advantage.

The Jaguars added an insurance run in the fourth when
Laila Clark singled and later scored on
Kira Manganello's RBI base hit to left, pushing the lead to 3-0.

In the circle,
Hayley Hinds worked 3.1 innings, allowing just one run on two hits. After Arlington Baptist scratched across a run in the fourth,
Aaliyah Zabala took over and shut the door. Zabala was dominant in relief, tossing 3.2 hitless innings while striking out six to earn the win.

Southern finished with eight hits in the contest, led by multi-hit performances from Maldonado, Clark and Manganello.

Game Two: Southern 10, Arlington Baptist 5
The second game saw an offensive explosion from the Lady Jaguars, highlighted by a six-run second inning that shifted the momentum for good.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first, Southern responded emphatically in the second. Manganello's RBI single sparked the rally before
Izabell Astran doubled down the left-field line. Maldonado followed with an RBI single, and sacrifice flies from Wallace and Clark helped cap the six-run frame and give Southern a 6-2 lead.

Southern continued to apply pressure late. In the fifth, White tripled and scored on Clark's sacrifice fly. Manganello added another sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 8-3. The Jaguars tacked on two more in the sixth, highlighted by White's second triple of the game, driving in a run to make it 10-3.

White led the offense with two triples and two RBIs, while Maldonado collected two hits and scored twice. Manganello drove in two runs, and Astran added a double among Southern's 11 hits.

Chakirrious Parker earned the win in the circle, working four innings and allowing three runs while striking out one. Zabala provided two scoreless innings of relief before White closed out the final frame.

UP NEXT
Southern will head to Commerce, Texas for the Lion Classic. The Lady Jaguars will take on St. Thomas and SIUE on Saturday before finishing the weekend with North Texas and East Texas A&M on Sunday.
