Lady Jaguars open play Friday against Howard and Claflin, face North Carolina A&T and Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, and conclude the event Sunday against Virginia State.
Friday's matchup against Howard marks the sixth meeting between the programs since 2018. Southern holds a 4-2 advantage in the series, including a 13-5 run-rule victory in six innings last season. The Bison, however, claimed the previous two meetings in 2024 and 2023.
This weekend will mark the first-ever meetings between Southern and Claflin, North Carolina A&T, Maryland Eastern Shore, and Virginia State.
The Lady Jaguars showed flashes of promise in their opening weekend against North Alabama, Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga, and Troy, but costly errors proved to be the difference in several contests.
Â
Keira Miracle-Tilford led the team offensively with three hits and a .273 batting average.
Ava Wallace and
Rhion Williams each recorded a triple, while Izabell Astrain,
Asia George and Jaciee Massey added two hits apiece. Astrain also drove in Southern's lone RBI of the weekend.
