HUMBLE, Texas — Southern University's bowling team closed out the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Round Up with its strongest five-game set of the season, securing three additional victories Sunday at Max Bowl.

The Lady Jaguars totaled 3,578 pins across 20 traditional games on the final day, averaging 178.9 pins per game. Southern finished the weekend with 12,234 pins over 70 games for a 174.8 overall average.

Southern opened the day with a dominant 879–558 victory over Grambling.
Mikayla Stephens recorded the Lady Jaguars' highest game of the weekend with a 220, while Maria Molina Diaz followed closely at 199.
Alanna Jones continued her consistent play, adding a 174.

The Lady Jaguars carried that momentum into their matchup with Alabama A&M, improving their team total in a 913–766 win. Stephens once again topped the lineup with a 206, Molina Diaz posted her second straight 199, and Jones remained steady with a 196.

Southern dropped its third match of the day to Jackson State, 900–759, before rebounding in its final match with the program's first five-game set above par this season. Za'viara Williams capped the weekend with the highest individual game of the tournament for the Lady Jaguars, rolling a 258. Molina Diaz closed with a 212, Jones turned in her best game of the SWAC Round Up at 210, and
Angel Stein added a 195 as Southern defeated Prairie View A&M 1,027–801.

Molina Diaz sits seventh overall in the conference with a 187.67 average (1,689 pins) over nine games. Jones and Stephens were the only Lady Jaguars to bowl all 14 games, with Jones averaging 175.9 (2,463 pins) and Stephens posting a 174.36 average (2,441 pins).

Southern will be off for the remainder of January before returning to action for three tournaments in February. The Lady Jaguars will next travel to Huntsville, Alabama, for the final SWAC Round Up.
