HARAHAN, La. – Southern University's bowling team wrapped up the Colonial Lanes Classic with grit and resilience on Sunday, pushing all three of their Baker matches to the full seven games at Colonial Lanes.
 
Southern opened the day by staging an impressive comeback against Texas Southern after dropping the first three games, 225–141, 179–167, and 192–170. Refusing to fold, the Lady Jaguars steadily raised their scoring pace and seized the momentum with a 184–154 win in game four. From there, each remaining game came down to the 10th frame, where Southern delivered in clutch fashion ,posting scores of 178–170, 178–172, and a commanding 224–205, to complete the rally and take the match 4–3.
 
The Lady Jaguars found themselves in a similar early deficit in their second match, this time against No. 18 UAB. Despite rolling competitive numbers, Southern fell behind 3–0 with games of 224–212, 228–192, and 228–192 going to the Blazers. Southern again responded with poise, grinding out wins of 175–171, 190–178, and 156–151 to force a decisive seventh game. As in the opener, the match came down to the 10th frame, but UAB made the final shot it needed to edge out a 187–178 victory and claim the match 4–3.
 
Southern and Texas Southern met once more to close the tournament, and for the third time on the day, the match extended to all seven games. The teams traded early blows, with Southern winning game one 179–164 and TSU evening the match 194–136 in game two. Game three saw both squads locked in, finishing in a 201–201 tie. The back-and-forth continued as Texas Southern took game four 175–156 before Southern answered with a narrow 174–172 win in game five. TSU, however, closed strong in the final two games, 201–170 and 187–137, to take the match 4.5–2.5.

Southern will be off for the remainder of the 2025 calendar and will return to action on January 16 for the SWAC West Round-Up at AMF Diamond Lanes in Houston.
