BATON ROUGE, LA – Southern continues their seven game homestand when Texas Southern University comes to Lady Jaguar Field for a three-game series on April 10-11.
 
Southern (8-25, 4-8 SWAC) picked up a win over Lamar, 2-1, to open the homestand. The Lady Jaguars fell behind in the first inning but battled back to score in the second a fifth to take the win.
 
Texas Southern (8-17, 5-7) enters the game on a five-game winning streak. The Tigers swept Arkansas – Pine Bluff last weekend and beat Incarnate Word on Tuesday.
 
TSU has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two programs.
 
McKenzie Ogden is hitting .299 with three doubles, a triple and nine RBI to lead Southern offensively. Sydney Wesley is hitting .297, Alana Mark has a .277 average and Anabella Valadez is hitting .262 on the season. Mark has a team leading five home runs and 22 RBI, while Valadez is second on the team with three home runs.
 
In the circle, Valadez leads the Lady Jaguars with a 6.15 ERA in 71.2 innings. Valadez has struck out 41 and walked 26. Kairah Williams has 28 strikeouts in 59 innings. Raquel Latta and Chakirrious Parker continue to see more time in the circle. Latta has 19 strikeouts to just eight walks in 50.1 innings. Parker has a 3.86 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 18.2 innings.
 
Texas Southern is led by Marissa Martinez hitting .308 on the season. Martinez has two doubles and five RBI. Daryn Haslam is second on the team with a .262 average. Haslam has a team leading four home runs and 11 RBI.
 
Lailah Bell and Jazmine Gendorf are the leaders in the circle for TSU. Bell has a 5.32 ERA with 11 strikeouts and 11 walks in 45.2 innings of work. Gendorf has a 6.84 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 21 walks in 52.2 innings.
