Paytin Mercado against Prairie View A&M on Saturday afternoon at Lady Jaguar Field. The Lady Panthers would come away with an 11-1 win.
Southern dropped to 13-34 overall and 8-16 in SWAC play. Prairie View improved to 26-17 and 22-1 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Prairie View would threaten in the top of the first, but Mercado would scoop up a single and throw out the runner at home.
- The Lady Panthers would take a 1-0 lead in the third off a single and triple to lead off the inning, but Latta would get the next three batters to pop up to keep the score at 1-0.
- Prairie View would add three in the fourth.
- Anabella Valadez would respond in the bottom of the inning with a home run over left center.
- The Lady Panthers would score three in the fifth and four in the sixth for the 11-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Prairie View outhit Southern 16-4.
- The Lady Jaguars committed three errors while Prairie View had two.
- Southern would leave four runners stranded and the Lady Panthers left eight on base.
- Southern drew no walks and struck out six times.
- Four different Lady Jaguars collected a hit on the day. Valadez finished 1-for-3 with a home run.
- Mia Nunez and Audrey Garcia went 4-for-4 to lead Prairie View at the plate. Nunez finished with four RBIs and Garcia had two.
