THIBODAUX, LA – Southern University's softball team travels to Thibodaux, Louisiana on April 26 for their final nonconference game of the season against Nicholls State at Swanner Field at Geo Surfaces Park for 6 p.m.
 
Southern (13-30, 8-13 SWAC) is coming off a series loss to Alcorn but defeated Xavier of Louisiana in last week's midweek game.
 
Nicholls (23-22, 10-11) won the first game of their conference series against Southeastern but lost the final two games on the weekend.
 
Southern has not won against Nicholls with the last matchup being a 6-3 decision on March 30, 2021.
 
Jaeslyn Frazier is hitting .313 with two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs on the season to lead Southern at the plate. Anabella Valadez is second with a .292 average with six doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs. Sydney Wesley is hitting .289 with three doubles and eight RBIs. Alana Mark leads the team with 34 hits, six doubles, five home runs and 25 RBIs.
 
In the circle, Valadez leads the Lady Jaguars with a 5.52 ERA in 89.2 innings. Valadez has struck out 48 and walked 30. Kairah Williams has 31 strikeouts in 65.1 innings. Raquel Latta and Chakirrious Parker continue to see more time in the circle. Latta now has 79.1 innings where she has 35 strikeouts to just 11 walks with a 6-6 record. Parker has a 5.73 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 33 innings.
 
Nicholls is led by Erin Krause with a team high .398 average, 11 doubles and four triples. Krause has added a home run and 29 RBIs. Alexa Poche' is the only other Colonel batter hitting over .300 at .318. Poche' is second on the team with four home runs and 34 RBIs. Melise Gossen has a team high of eight home runs and 36 RBIs.
 
Audrey McNeill leads Nicholls in the circle with a 10-8 record and 2.61 ERA while striking out 78 and walking 34. Molly Yoo is 10-10 in the circle with a 3.01 ERA with 60 strikeouts and 17 walks.
