BATON ROUGE, LA – The Southern University Lady Jaguars (3-16) fell to the University of Massachusetts Lowell by identical scores of 9-0 in their doubleheader Wednesday at Lady Jaguar Field.
Game 1 – Southern 0, UMass Lowell 9

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMass Lowell got on the board in the first inning after a walk and a single to make it 1-0.
- The River Hawks would tack on three more in the third off a home run to opening the inning. That was followed by three straight hits. The final run of the inning came off a bases loaded single to put the lead at 4-0.
- UMass Lowell would add another run in the fourth, two more in the fifth and two in the sixth.
- Southern would get the first two runners on in the bottom half of the sixth, but could not get anything else going.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- UMass Lowell would outhit Southern,14-2.
- Southern committed two errors, while the River Hawks had none.
- Southern would leave seven runners on base, compared to seven by the UMass Lowell.
- Southern drew five walks and struck out four times.
- Sydney Wesley and Kameryn Adkins would get the only hits for Southern. Mark would extend her on base streak to 12 games.
- Elizabeth Frederick would lead the River Hawks by going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMass Lowell would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first. After getting the first two batters out, the River Hawks would take advantage on an error to plate the three runs.
- UMass Lowell would score again in the third, this time after a walk the River Hawks would get a double to make it 4-0.
- The River Hawks would load the basses in the fifth with no outs, but the Lady Jagars were able to hold them to just two runs.
- UMass Lowell would add three in the sixth to make the final score 9-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- UMass Lowell would outhit Southern, 9-1.
- Southern would finish with three errors, compared to none by UMass Lowell.
- The River Hawks left five on base, compared to four for the Lady Jaguars.
- Southern drew one walk and struck out three times.
- Paytin Mercado would get the lone hit for Southern, a double in the bottom of the fifth.
- Morgan Fisher and Cayla Tulley would each finish 2-for-3 with a double, Fisher had four RBIs and Tulley would have 2 RBIs.

The Lady Jaguars will open Southwestern Athletic Conference play against Prairie View A&M from March 10-11 at Lady Panther Softball Stadium in Prairie View, Texas. Friday's contest is scheduled for 3 pm., while Saturday's doubleheader will start at noon.
