DOUGSLVILLE, GA – The Lady Jaguars finished sixth at the TNBA/HBCU Invitational on Sunday at Southern Lanes
Southern (59-47) came into the day in fourth and would be able to take the tournament title with three wins, but that would not be the case.
In the first best 4-of-7 Baker style matches, the Lady Jaguars would open the day against Texas Southern. The teams would go back-and-forth the first five games with TSU taking a 3-2 advantage. In those games Southern would shoot 144, 192, 167, 161 and 155 to TSU's 190, 169, 178, 155 and 200. The sixth game would go Texas Southern's way 174-151, giving them the 4-2 win.
The second match would go the distance but would still not be in favor of the Lady Jaguars. Southern would have games of 180, 145, 190, 206, 153, 149 and 130, while Alabama A&M would finish with games of 176, 194, 159, 226, 173, 122 and 160. AAMU would take the match 4-3.
Southern would start to get tired in the final game and fall 4-1 to Florida A&M to finish sixth. Florida A&M would have games of 179, 149, 185, 180 and 156. Southern would finish out the tournament with games of 144, 132, 112, 192 and 151.
UP NEXT
Southern will look to add to their Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season championship when they travel to Arlington, Texas and the Internationals Training and Research Center for the SWAC Championship.
