Jailyn Rogers Finishes Second, Lady Jaguars Pick up Three More Wins

DOUGSLVILLE, GA – The Lady Jaguars picked up three more wins on the second day of the TNBA/HBCU Invitational at Southern Lanes.
 
Southern (59-43) moved up to fourth after the five traditional games after posting a total of 4,287.
 
The Lady Jaguars would open up the day with two straight matches against Florida A&M, splitting the games.
 
In the first game, Alanna Coward would lead Southern with a 184. Kelsey Quinney would finish at 180 and Nyla Wilson finished at 177. The Lady Jaguars would fall in the first game 900-812.
 
Southern would take advantage of the rematch and take the second game 803-795. Despite winning the game, the Lady Jaguars were not able to get consistent marks throughout the game. Coward would be high on the team with an 180. Jailyn Rogers would finish at 171.
 
The Lady Jaguars would bounce back against Shaw University, taking the game 830-629. Rogers would start to find her groove, leading the team with a 204. Wilson would find herself with a 179 and Quinney would finish at 175.
 
The highest set of the tournament would belong to Southern in their game against Alabama A&M, a 1,010-760 dominating victory. Rogers moved up the individual leaderboard with a 258. Raja Anderson would come in and shoot 222. Coward would bounce back to shoot a 198 and Wilson would finish at 175.
 
Southern would draw the bye on the final game of the day, shooting 832 to close out the second day. Coward would continue to shoot well on the weekend with a 201. Rogers and Wilson would shoot identical 192s.
 
Individually, Rogers would finish second overall in the tournament with a 948 and 189.6 average. Coward finished 12th with a 901, 180.2 average, and Wilson finished 18th with a872 for a 174.4 average.
