ARLINGTON, TX Southern's bowling team ran into a buzzsaw in the third round of the SWAC Championship tournament at the ITRC in Arlington, Texas on Saturday.

Prairie View A&M won the match 2-0 but Southern (59-49, 20-8) did not go down without a fight. The Lady Panthers took the traditional game 1,031-966 and the Baker format 994-938.

Kelsey Quinney started out hot by stringing four strikes in a row on her way to a 246. Alanna Coward would follow with a 202 and Jailyn Rogers would contribute a 182. However, Prairie View's Jayda Gordon would get four of the final five strikes for a 222 and Juilana Rincon would start with the front nine strikes on her way to a 266 to give PVAMU the edge.

The Baker format would continue to produce scores for Southern but Prairie View would do just enough each game to keep the lead. The Lady Jaguars had games of 183, 182, 180, 176 and 217 for the third highest Baker set of the tournament at 938. Prairie View would finish with the highest set so far with games of 198, 190, 190, 186 and 230 for a 994 total.

Individual tournament standings would be determined by the first two traditional game scores. Quinney would finish fourth overall with a 403 total pinfall for a 201.5 average.
