JACKSON, MS – Southern (5-20, 2-4) travels to Jackson State for a midweek contest against the Tigers at the JSU Softball Field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Southern is coming off a series win against Alcorn in which the Lady Jaguars took the first two games before dropping the final game of the series. The Lady Jaguars won 2-0 on Saturday and 6-5 on Sunday before falling 13-3 in the second game of the doubleheader.
Jackson State (13-15, 3-3) defeated Mississippi Valley by the scores of 16-3, 8-5 and 16-8 to even their conference record.
Jackson State holds a 6-4 advantage over the last 10 games. The Lady Jaguars did win their previous matchup against the Tigers this season, a 5-3 win in the Mardi Gras Classic at Lady Jaguar Field.
Sydney Wesley and
Alana Mark continue to be the leaders offensively for Southern. Wesley is hitting .298 on the season with a triple and a double. Mark is second on the team with a .281 average and leads the team with three doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI.
Asia George is hitting .267 with two doubles, a triple, a home run eight RBI and a team leading seven stolen bases.

Anabella Valadez with 27 strikeouts and 23 walks in 53.2 innings.
Kairah Williams has 26 strikeouts in 50.2 innings and
Raquel Latta has 10 strikeouts and five walks in 24 innings of work.
Marissa Medina, Jace Jackson and Isabel Gusman are all hitting over .300 for JSU. Medina has a team high .463 average, six doubles and two home runs. She is second on the team with 13 RBI. Jackson is hitting .347 with three doubles, two triples, a home run and nine RBI. Gusman is hitting .340 on the year.
Takiya Hill, Victoria Salazar and Macie Kuppenbender are the leaders for JSU in the circle. Hill is 3-6 on the year with 35 strikeouts and 15 walks in 64.1 innings. Salazar has pitched in 44 innings and is 4-5 on the season with 34 strikeouts and 13 walks. Kuppenbender is 2-3 in 40.1 innings of work with 15 strikeouts and 20 walks.
